favorite things: july 09 edition

I've been collecting a list of favorite things for ages it seems and so I thought it was finally time I share them with ya'll!

One of our favorite meals is this (and I found this recipe online but cannot remember where now) yummy CHICKEN TETRAZZINI. It's definately worth a try and because all those veggies are shredded up my kids don't even notice them and are always asking for seconds!

Here's the recipe:

1 box of noodles (I used spaghettini)
2 cooked and chopped chicken breasts
1/2 cup shredded zucchini
1/2 cup shredded carrots
1/2 cup chopped onion
3 tbsp butter
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 can of cream of chicken soup
1/2 cup of sour cream
1/2 cup milk or cream
1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese
salt and pepper to taste

While noodles are boiling, melt butter on a low heat in a frying pan. Add garlic, onion, zucchini and carrots. Saute for about 3 minutes. Add soup, sour cream, milk, cheese and chicken. Stir over low heat until noodles are done boiling. Drain noodles and add to mixture. Toss well and serve immediately.

The kids favorite new sunday activity has been exploring the new Friend magazine website. You can print coloring pages, download music, and the kids can enjoy puzzles matching games and plenty more. Another thing we've enjoyed on sundays together as a family is watching some of the youtube videos here. This has been the kids favorite one:

I've been lucky enough to get a sneak preview at Stampin Ups! newest releaseand oh wow, I couldn't even begin to list ALL my favorites from the catalog. I can't wait to share a couple of new projects with you in the next few days using some of the new stamps & things. If you're anything like me and LOVE lists then their I HEART LISTS stamp set will be right up your alley! It's so stinkin' cute!

Ever since we picked up the Anne of Green Gables series from the library a few months back Emily has been asking and asking to watch them again sometime. I came accross this DVD set online and plan to get my hands on it soon. Don't you just love Anne of Green Gables?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My favorite two fonts at the moment are futura and amelie. In fact, I've been organizing our family recipes and I think I've finally settled on a format to use for the binder I'll be putting together. I've used that amelie font throughout the whole thing.

I've had a few people ask lately about how I upload my photos to my blog and so I thought I'd post it here in case anyone else was curious. I try to make it as easy as possible while at the same time making sure my photos look good. Once I've edited my photos in photoshop I then resize them to 4X6 and 72 dpi. Next thing I do ensures that the color of my photos looks good online. Have you ever uploaded your photos and noticed that they look dull or somewhat greyish? Well this next step should solve this issue. I'm not going to go into much detail but essentially you need to convert your photo to sRGB color format before publishing them to the web - for some web browsers this won't make any difference but for mine it does and so I do this for all photos I will be publishing to the web, I've even created my own little photoshop action to do this for me so that I can change the color profile for a number of photos at the same time. In photoshop you simply go to EDIT -> convert to profile -> and under destination space select sRGB. Its a simple step but it can make such a difference. Once I've done this I then save my 'web files' into a folder I've called 'blog photos' and from there I'm ready to upload them.

I use photobucket to host all my images. It is so easy upload them there all at the same time from my 'blog photos' folder. I then enter the direct link provided by photobucket for each photo, copy and past it into the URL feild in the upper right of the blogger upload images window. I have custom formatted my blog template to fit bigger photos and so I have selected to upload images through blogger and photobucket in their "large" format every time.

See if you can notice a difference between these two photos. Photo #1 I converted to sRGB. Photo #2 I didn't.

Addie's favorite bedtime music these days:

and this one. They're both full of beautiful songs.

While browsing online the other day for maternity clothes I ran across this nifty thing. How cool is that? Its gotta beat the elastic hairbands I've been using to keep my pants closed these days. Anyone ever tried these?
